4/8/2024 — I (surprisingly) have some updates for you! First, I got a huge chunk of edits done. I know, I know… I’m still working on edits! Trust me, I’m ready to be done with them and get the book out to you all too! I’m more than halfway done with the bulk of the book’s changes, which amounts to about 250 pages of line edits. Sitting down for 5 hours and busting those out was probably not the way to do it, but hey, it got done!
My other update for you is related to my cover! Ahh so exciting! I did, however, have to take a few steps back. I was working with one cover designer virtually to share my notes and ideas, and they created a first draft. Unfortunately, they stopped emailing me back… for a full year. I finally reached out to the author who coordinated my whole publishing team for the Dreammakers contest. She was able to help me get jump started on a new cover design, and let me tell you—I am SO excited! I’ve been able to help with more customizing and tinkering of colors and symbols than before, and I can already imagine what the final design is leading up to. As my elite email crew, you will be the very first to see the final design. I will keep you all in the loop as we get closer to an actual real book cover. Just thinking about it makes it feel so much more real for me, and I am so so ready to bring you into the world of To Favor Blood & Flowers.
In other news, I am off to visit LONDON this month! I am hoping to get inspired in the places where some iconic authors—Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, the Brontë sisters—spent time writing beautiful stories. Perhaps some drafting of book two and three of the trilogy while I'm there?
So until next month, I’ll be knocking out more of my edits, drinking a pint in a pub, and (fingers crossed) getting a cover draft soon!
Much love and happy reading,
Gail ❤
