08/28/2023 — We’re taking a short hiatus from my question series for a nerdy author rant. And no, to answer any questions about the picture above, I did not name my main character after this beer. However, it is a delicious beer, and I love it even more because it’s named Carina.
I cannot tell you how excited I am because… (drum roll please) I am finally writing again! I know, I know. You all wanted a bigger announcement, but this is all I got. And for me, it feels like a lot. Incoming cheesy line: Writing again has felt like slipping on a warm, oversized jacket that you really really love but forgot you had. If I could bottle that feeling, it is what I have experienced the last few days every time I opened up my laptop.
It has been probably six months, maybe more than that, since I sat down and actually wrote out a scene. Months since I reframed major plot points that connect book two to book three and months since I hid spoilers in book one. (Yes, they are most definitely there. No, you will not find them. Hehe 🙂) I cannot tell you how exhilarating it was to fall back into my book world.
I had forgotten so many things. Sure, I had forgotten little details. That’s pretty typical anyways, and it’s why I have so many documents to keep track of it all. My brain doesn’t have room, and I pay Google extra to make sure my drive has enough storage. What I really forgot were my characters. It was like seeing old friends and reliving memories.
On the flip side of all this excitement, it has been incredibly hard to convince myself to fold laundry or work on research projects. Sorry underwear, writing wins everyday.
I know that this might have been just a silly rant, but I thank you all for reading anyways. Fingers crossed I have some bigger book news to share soon!
